SIGNS by Catherine Graham

ID on Tyne Press is out of hibernation for 2010.
We are planning to publish three special chapbooks this year by three very talented North East writers.

The first chapbook is SIGNS by Catherine Graham.

She is a Northern Voices Poetry Award winner as well as being winner of the Northumberland Writers' Special Award. Her work has appeared in a number of magazines and anthologies as well as on the web.

The launch event, where Catherine will be appearing with special guests, will take place on Wednesday 16 June , 7.30pm, at the Lit and Phil.
£2 on the door and refreshments provided.

Please spread the word. It would be good to see you there.

Here’s a taster of the chapbook with the title poem SIGNS. Enjoy

Signs

When I set out on my journey
I shall leave home early.

I shall wear shoes that breathe slowly;
button up my best coat.

My scarf will wrap itself around me,
brushing my cheek like a newborn hand

and I shall need a bag - the one
that smells of her favourite perfume.

A simple sign
nailed to a wooden post.

See her alight with only the ghost
of a well dressed smile.

This is the place
where dandelion clocks stand still.

‘Very strong.’ Sean O’Brien.

‘Catherine's poems are from the heart. They have real life force within them.' Pat Borthwick
